WORKS BY VIBUL WONPRASAT ENTILTED:

"An Artistic Philosophy of a California Culture"

HARTBERG- Twenty paintings in a variety of mediums by Vibul Wonprasat of Venice, California USA will be on display at the Weinbau Simmler- simmler's Art Gallery in Hartberg, Styria, Austria from June 30 - July 30, 2006. 

Vibul Wonprasat has resided in Venice, CA USA for the past 27 years.  Over this time period, Vibul has captured the essence of life in Southern California.  These pieces depict the array of cultures and energies present in the people that live around him.

During the run of his show, Vibul will be giving lectures on the elements that have inspired him over the years.  An art workshop will be conducted.  Wonprasat will demonstrate how his eastern background has influenced his modern style in his contemporary art.

"Chilean Rhythm"  and "Self Portrait with Buddha's Eye"  are two of Vibul's favorite pieces that will be in the show.  "Chilean Rhythm"  celebrate Wonbprasat's lvoe of music and movement.  He uses subjective colors to capture the spirit of music.  "Self Portrait with Buddha's Eye" displays Vibul's unique style which fuses an East meets West design.

Joan Marshal, the Pacific Asian Museum Director states: "The Pacific Asia Museum is honored to have exhibitied Vibul Wonprasat's artwork on several occasions at the museum.  He is an artist who draws inspiration not only from the native THailand but also from California and the West.  He is tryl and international artist whose work is not defined by national boundaries." 

Vibul was born in Thailand.  He earned a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art in Bangkok, Thailand in 1962.  Vibul conducted a self-study of the works of Wassily Kandinsky in Stuttgard, Germany.  He then moved to California, where he currently resides.  He has a studio in Venice, CA where he offers art instruction to his many students.  Wonprasat has received "Artist in Residency" from the California Art Counsel, the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department adn the Asian Museum in San Francisco. 

There will be a reception fro m the artist on June 30, 2006.
